The Schneider Electric European Hackathon is a coding competition organized by Schneider Electric and powered by Nuwe. This hackathon will take place on November 19th and will be focused on the European territory.
This is the basic information that you need to know in order to join the competition:
π Date: November 19th, 2022, at 9:00 CET
π Format: Online and held in Nuweβs virtual world.
𧩠Competition categories: Data Science and Cybersecurity.
π§π½βπ» Participant profile: university/college/schools of higher education.
πͺ Level: trainee / junior / mid-senior.
π€ Teams: Minimum: 1 / Maximum: 3
π° Prize: Valued in 5.000 β¬ and paid internship jobs
You can check the terms and conditions of the hackathon (here).
The Schneider Electric Hackathon is the first coding competition organized by Schneider Electric and powered by Nuwe at the European level. The main objective of this hackathon is for the participants to show their skills, win prizes and have a chance of getting hired in Schneider Electric, a multinational company that offers digital solutions in the energy and automatization fields in order to achieve efficiency and sustainability.
This hackathon will prioritize the European residents because the potential job positions are meant to provide support to the European part of Schneider Electric.
The two categories available for the participants to compete are Data Science and Cybersecurity, two of the most top trending IT fields. You do not need to worry a lot about the difficulty level of the challenges, as they have been designed for a trainee / junior developer profile. You will have to choose in which category you want to participate when creating the team.
π Data Science Challenge
The data science challenge will consist in creating an image classification model, which from a given dataset, predicts what type of deforestation appears in the image with the objective of early detection of this type of actions in protected lands.
The following resources will be provided to complete the challenge:
A training 'csv' files that relate the ID of the images to their features and classes.
A testing 'csv' files that relate the ID of the images to their features.
A zip file containing a few thousand training and testing images. This zip file has a weight of 309MB.
No infrastructure will be provided to train the models, so you can do it locally or as you prefer.
The challenge will be to create an image classification model and train it with the training images we provide, once you find the model that maximizes the f1-score, you will have to apply your model to classify the testing images. Your score will depend on the F1-score of your model with the test images, the quality of your code and the explanation of the solution you provide.
Evaluation will be based on:
700/1200:(OBJECTIVES) This will be obtained from the f1-score(macro) of the predictive model. Comparing the predictions your model has made about versus ground truth.
100/1200:(DOC) Brief presentation explaining what you have done and how you have done it.
400/1200:(QUALITY) Code quality and automation, complexity, maintainability, reliability, and security.
Submission:
The team lead of each team will have to deliver the link to their GitHub repository (public repository). It must contain the predictions of the model, the file in which the code has been made and a brief presentation explaining what has been done and how it has been done. Deadline: Saturday 19 November 2022 at 23:59. The repository must be public after the submission, so you can work with the repository in private, and prior to submit it make it public.
More information about the challenge will appear in the challenge section on the day of the competition. To access the challenge, you can scroll down this page until you get to the two challenges section, or you can go directly by clicking here: Data challenge .
π Cybersecurity challenge
The general explanation: one or more people have managed to compromise a system, the objective is to find vulnerabilities, malware and possible persistence, sanitize the system and create a report detailing the process that has been carried out. It is also important to identify attacker IPs and as a bonus, recreate the exploit path(s) they have used to enter the system.
The challenge has been designed so that it can be done from a student (difficulty-medium) to a senior profile (difficulty-easy).
More information about the challenge will appear in the challenge section on the day of the competition. To access the challenge, you can scroll down this page until you get to the two challenges section, or you can go directly by clicking here: Cybersecurity challenge .
You only have to do one of the challenges, which can be done individually or with a maximum of another two team members (3 members per team). If you are only one person, you will have to create a group with a limit of 1 participant. Here is a brief guide explaining how to make the teams: Quick guide to team creation .
We are happy to tell you that the Schneider Electric European Hackathon will be held in Nuweβs virtual world, which will allow you to meet a few Schneider Electric representatives and part of Nuweβs Team.
Before entering the virtual world you should read this guide: GATHER GUIDE, HOW TO & SOME TIPS .
To enter the virtual world click here: Access the virtual world .
The winners of the hackathon will be decided by a jury composed of the Schneider Electric staff. These winners will be announced via email and in Nuweβs platform 7 to 10 days after the event (weekend days not included).
Finally, the prizes are valued in 5.000β¬ + paid internship opportunity. You can see the distribution below:
